Macarthur Community College is offering this opportunity to update and formalise your skills and knowledge in applying organisational procedures that prevent and control infection in your workplace. The COVID-19 pandemic has placed an unprecedented strain on businesses and workplaces to follow strict infection control measures that meet rapidly changing work environment.

This unit of competency involves implementing standard and transmission-based precautions, identifying infection hazards, and assessing and responding to infection risks. It applies to all workers required to undertake their activities in compliance with the infection prevention and control procedures in place in their workplace.

This unit is an elective unit in BSB30120 - Certificate III in Business and offers a pathway to that qualification.

It is completed via online learning which is accessed through the internet 24/7 in the comfort of your own home or workplace. You will manage your learning with the support of a Support tutor. You have a maximum of 4 months from time of enrolment to complete.

All applicants will go through a short telephone interview process before enrolling in this online course. You will need access to a computer with internet and an email address. Participants enrol and pay through the College. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer are available.

Once you have enrolled, you will be issued with a user name and password and will complete your work online. You may also be required to attend face-to-face sessions or while COVID-19 is with us, a phone or online meeting may be arranged.

The assessment consists of:
- A Q&A, written answers online
- Apply organisational infection prevention and control procedures to own work activities.
- Identify infection hazards, assess the risk they pose, and respond to each within scope of own role and responsibilities and according to organisational infection prevention and control procedures.
- Demonstrate the use of required precautions and control measures, as required for own work activities.
- Confine a resource or piece of equipment that is suspected of being contaminated, according to organisational infection prevention and control procedures.
- Dispose of waste according to organisational infection prevention and control procedure.

A ‘No Refunds Policy‘ applies to all online learning courses once you have been issued with your username and passwords, whether you have accessed the system or not.

Materials

Please ensure you have an email address in order to undertake this course.

Once you have enrolled, you will be contacted within 7 working days and issued with a user name and password. You will need to advise the College of your email address before this can be issued in order to complete your work online.

Since 1/1/15 anyone undertaking accredited training must have a USI (Unique Student Identifier). The College will require you to apply for one before it can issue any Qualifications or Statements of Attainment.

Go to www.usi.gov.au and apply for one now. It will only take 5-10 minutes - you just enter your personal details with one form of ID (e.g. Driver‘s licence, Medicare card, passport, etc). Alternatively you can give the College permission to apply for one for you.
